Valle del Cauca, leader in migration abroad

The south-western state of Valle del Cauca is the leader in the group of Colombians migrating to countries like Spain and United States, according to a research of El Tiempo newspaper. The 25 percent of the Colombian migrants abroad come from this region, which capital is Cali, one of the main urban and industrial centers of the coffee nation. It is estimated that about 4 million Colombians are residing abroad.

African albino moved the heart of Spain

Spaniards are used to the thousand of African migrants that arrive to the Iberian coasts every year. They know also that most of them would be sent back by authorities once their safety and conditions will be guaranteed. But this time one of those African migrants moved their heart. He was Moszy, a boy of 17 years old who arrived to Canarias in a boat with clandestine migrants from the West of Africa. He is an albino and asked political asylum. (more…)

Fake passports and visas in Madrid

About 300 fake passports and visas are detected by the police of the Barajas International Airport, according with a report of EFE TV of last May. Most of the passports were hold by Colombian, Peruvian and Dominican citizens, who used fake passports from countries that do not need visa to come into the European Community or have less controls.

Many of those citizens use to pay big amounts of money in their countries to criminal nets of fakers in about USA 500. The fakers frequent the surroundings of foreign consulates and embassies to aboard persons who are applying for visas. Many of the persons, who agreed to get their visa in that way, were thinking that they were contracting a kind of visa service agency, but many of them did it knowing that they were getting fake visas or passports. Spaniard chancellor to Colombia and Venezuela

The Spaniard Chancellor Miguel Angel Moratinos announced in Germany that he will visit this month Colombia and Venezuela to work for a restitution of dialogues and relations between the two South American countries.

He said that Madrid and Caracas restablished relations after the Latin America – European Summit in Lima last month and that Hugo Chávez and Rodriguez Zapatero hold a normalization of relations dialogue in the Inca capital.

Moratinos said that he want to discuss also the problem of the Farc guerrillas in Colombia and the relations of this group with ETA in Spain after the public opinion knew from the computers of late Raul Reyes that Farc was planning attacks against Colombian personalities in Spaniard territory, like Vice President Francisco Santos and former president Andrés Pastrana.

244 municipalities in high risk for elections 

03.08.2010 Ombudsman said that 244 municipalities of Colombia are at high risk for the coming elections. They could face constraint to the voter, disruption of the electoral contest, threats, restrictions on mobility and suffragan corruption, warns the office. The threats come from the Farc guerrillas and the new armed groups, especially in the northern coast and the southwest of Colombia. General Freddy Padilla declared to the press that the security forces will be alert in all the national territory to guarantee safety during the elections.
