Journalist Juan Sebastian López Salazar of Semana said that it is irresponsible to say that President Uribe is the best president of Colombia. In his article Fue el momento, no Uribe (It was the circumstances, not Uribe), López Salazar made a quick balance of the Uribe’s government and he concludes that it was a complete failure. As yesterday, presenting the government’s program of Mockus, I said that “You do not need to be an expert to conclude that President Álvaro Uribe Vélez has lead the most important period of government of the Republic of Colombia during the last 50 years‘, I feel challenged by this article of López Salazar.

In a short press release the government denied a complaint filed before the Supreme Court by former Superintendent of Notaries and Registration Manuel Cuello Baute that 34 Congressmen received 79 notaries after voting in favor of Uribe’s 2006 re-election. The government says that the notaries were assigned due to their formation and affinity to the due administration. Cuello Baute clarifyed in his own press release that he had only accused only two congressmen and for reasons other than what the Colombian media is reporting. What is the game?
The Colombian Magazine Semana received the prestigious King of Spain Journalist Award for denounce the Para-politic. During several articles, journalist Alejandro Santos denounced those politicians who were involved with Paramilitary groups or recived economical support for their candidate campaigns for official seats.
