The proposal of the FARC guerrilla to the Union of South American Nations, UNASUR, to offer a dialog of peace was rejected by president Juan Manuel Santos. The communication of the insurgent group was published by Annacol, the official website of the armed group, where it is said that the Colombian government ‘closed any door to dialogue with the insurgency spurred on by the mirage of a military victory and Washington’s interference.’ Santos answered that the government wants that the guerrilla releases the hostages. The president said also that there is not the need of mediators.

The critics of Fidel Castro to the government of ex-president Álvaro Uribe where immediately answered by the Colombian politician. Castro, who has currently a high cover by the media of his country, criticized the decision of the UN to delegate Álvaro Uribe in the commission to investigate the Freedom Flotilla incident. The Cuban ex-president said that it is a ‘blunder‘ such election because Uribe ‘is accused of crimes of war‘ and that Ban Ki-moon was following ‘superior orders‘. Castro met recently Colombian senator Piedad Córdoba, one of the main political opponents to Uribe.

She is friend of Hugo Chávez, a sympathizer of Farc guerrilla and an opponent to the most popular president of the last 50 years in Colombia. For others, the Senator is the icon of courage, commitment, progressive ideas and the door to peace. For Oslo she was one of the most likely contenders to the Nobel peace prize. If the election of president Obama surprised many in the planet, the nomination of Córdoba raised debates in Colombia.

The former governor of the State of Meta, Alan Jara, was released by Farc, according to the promise of that guerrilla. Jara was kidnapped by Farc on 15th July 2001 when he was inaugurating a bridge in Lejanias town, Meta. He was with some members of the United Nations. He said that he had to cross for days the then demilitarized area of Caguán. Then, he was interviewed by Jorge Briceño Suárez, known as Mono Jojoy, who told him that he was in the list of politicians to be interchange with the government. Jara said in his first press conference that it is urgent to follow a humanitarian interchange in order to get the release of all hostages.

Colombians wait that this coming Sunday the Farc guerrillas will release six of the hostages according to their promise on 21rst of December. “We wait to know that six of those persons hold by the guerrilla, are free. It is like they belong to our own family“, said a mother of family in Medellín.
At the same time, the government of president Álvaro Uribe announced in Switzerland that if Farc demobilizes, free all the hostages and enter into civil life, they will have guaranteed on freedom and recompense.

The promise of the Farc guerrillas to free some of the hostages at the beginning of January, met a month already. The guerrillas communicated on 21rst of December that they would release some of the hostages as a proof of their willing of a dialogue of peace and a humanitarian interchange. They said also that the release will be done through a group of Colombian intellectuals leaded by Senator Piedad Córdoba. But this month of waiting has been only of debates.

Farc guerrillas said that in two or three weeks more will confirm the release of some hostages and give their location. The insurgent group gave the communicate through the director of the weekly Voz, Carlos Lozano. Farc said that it will be done as soon as it is clear the conformation of the humanitarian commission to receive the hostages.

Sen. Piedad Córdoba said to the Colombian Mass Media that the promised release of some Farc hostages is at just one step. She was referring the technical preparations to receive them. She got the full authorization of the government of President Álvaro Uribe to organize the group that will receive the hostages from the hands of the Farc guerrilla.
