85 international observers from 26 countries are following the voting process in Colombia. Enrique Correa, Chief of Observation of the Organization of American States, OAS, said this morning to Caracol Radio that the Electoral Oversight Mission has the responsibility to check that there is not judges vote theft, that the information boxes are really places for information and not for pressure over the voters and that at the end of the day the Colombian public opinion will have an efficient information of the results.

Honduras will be at the center of the international media this week. The Central America nation is the seat of the 39th Organization of American States’ summit in San Pedro Sula.
Then it can be forecast which countries will get more attention: Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, United States, Iran and Israel. Surely it will be interested to know why Iran and Israel will get attention in the summit of the American states, but they did their appointment to this already.

The Organization of the American States condemned the mass killing of indigenous of the Awa people in Colombia under the action of the Farc guerrilla this month. OAS asked also to Farc the devolution of the corps in a tragic event that began when a group of that guerrilla executed several persons at the beginning stating that they were “informants of the army.” The international organization of the Western-hemisphere nations asked also investigations and actions to punish this crime against human rights.
The OAS Colombian ambassador, Camilo Ospina, thanked the firm act of condemnation of what he called a mad action in the mass killing of the Awa people, an indigenous group that lives at the southwest of Colombia, in a jungle and undeveloped zone of the Nariño State and at the west of San Juan de Pasto.
Last 18th February, the General Secretary of OAS, the Chilean José Miguel Insulza, expressed his condemnation against the action of the Farc guerrillas against a group of Awa indigenous. After the killing, Farc expressed that they were “executed” because they were helping the army. But the Colombian government concluded that the action was a way to “clean” the jungle territory as a “path” to move cocaine.

Medellín is currently the headquarter of the 18th Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) with the assistance of several heads of states from the American nations. Of course one of the main issues is the Colombian – Ecuadorian crisis that seems to improve in the last days.

The OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza, opened also the Youth Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the city today in the Eafit University, south-east of Medellín, in the same place where the meetings of the continental organization Assembly was inaugurated by Insulza and the host president of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
