Cali. The south-western state of Valle del Cauca is the leader in the group of Colombians migrating to countries like Spain and United States, according to a research of El Tiempo newspaper. The 25 percent of the Colombian migrants abroad come from this region, which capital is Cali, one of the main urban and industrial centers of the coffee nation. It is estimated that about 4 million Colombians are residing abroad.

Cali – Colombia. Wildfires blown in the northern hills nearby the city yesterday and the winds are stricken the region. The fire department of the city passed the night in the area trying to avoid the flames to reach houses in Chipichape and Golondrinas, while Montebello and Terrón Colorado hills were embraced by the conflagration. The University of Cauca is working in the development of a disposal cup that is also biodegradable. The cup will be based on cassava starch. ´The idea is create disposable products that are also biodegradable,´ said Héctor Villada, scholar at the Faculty of Agronomy to El Tiempo newspaper. (more…)
