Hernán Díaz passed away, the Colombian pioneer of photography

Hernán Díaz, 78, pioneer of professional photography in Colombia, died in Bogotá last 30 of November. He was a photojournalist for prestigious international publications like Time, Fortune, Christian Science Monitor and participated in the Venice Biennale of Photography. Díaz – who was born in Ibagué in 1931 – wrote Six Contemporaneous Artists in 1963 and he was the founder of Memorabilia, the first gallery of photography of Colombia. He was awarded with the Federico Hecht National Prize of Photography in 1968 and the First World Contest of Posters in 1980 in Venezuela.

The most peaceful elections in 25 years 

From 420 municipalities that were declared in high risk during the elections, only 10 were affected by any kind of disturbance. According to official sources, the elections for the Congress were the most peaceful in 25 years.

Six actions of the guerrilla were reported (in 2006 they were 71). There was a terrorist attack in Corinto - State of Cauca, southwest of Colombia. Two persons were injured by this action of the Farc guerrilla.
