When there was the earthquake of Haiti on last January 12, Chile was among the first countries to participate in the international help to the impoverished Caribbean nation that was completely destroyed. As most of us around the globe, the Chileans were shocked by the images of Haitian victims rescued from the rubble in Port-au-Prince. They did not suspect that a month after, on February 27, Chile would endured at even stronger earthquake.

The dream of a regional integration from Mexico to Argentina for one side and the permanent conflicts among neighbors for other, have made the Latin American presidents more popular than ever. The strike is over. The administration and the transport reached an agreement n 1,8%. The service is reestablished in the capital.
The problem started when the local government announced the renovation of old buses and decided that all companies will receive a compensation of a monthly 1,5 % of the total value of the old car for two decades. The transporters did not accept the number and claimed 1,8 % arguing that it is the right for the economies of their families. The bitter discussion between transport and local government affected the mobility in the capital and even created violent events. (more…)
Brussels. The Ministry of Finances of Colombia, Luis Guillermo Plata, declared to the media that the negotiations with the European Union for a Free Trade Agreement closed successfully last 1rts of March. Production of the free zones, banana, sugar and coffee were among the main Colombian benefits of the new FTA with the powerful economical block. However, the Colombian producers of milk are worried, because it is expected that the country will see the massive importation of milk products. (more…)
Most of the international media underlined that José Mujica, the new president of Uruguay, is a former guerrilla who changed weapons for democracy in order to arrive to power. The point is important for a country like Colombia, where guerrillas have five decades trying to do so through a long and painful war. José Mujica (say in English Joseph Mo-he-ca), a 74 years old leftist, became president of the Uruguayans in an official act in the Parliament last 1rst of March. All the South American presidents were present, with the exception of President Bachellet of Chile for obvious reasons. (more…)

The situation in Chile is alarming and little by little we realize how big was the natural phenomena that affected 80 % of the national territory and even produced a tsunami in the Pacific.
